Building Plan Document Instructions
A Building Plan or Project Illustration is a designed representation of what your project will look like when completed. An example plan is provided below. The document you provide should include a floor or construction plan with measurements. Plans should include as much information as possible about the size, height, materials, location of related components and structural elements.
A building plan provides a visual record that you are required to follow once it is approved. The plan provided isn’t just an estimate or a guess about what you will build. Once it has been approved, you are required to preform work exactly as depicted. Any alteration of a plan needs to be submitted for review and approval.
By providing a visual depiction of your project, it provides an extra layer of safety and security that there won’t be any unintended problems with your project and application. In other words, taking the time to draw a building plan allows the city – and you – to see how your project will work according to city regulations and codes.
